The Challenge
When this growing Amazon seller first approached the Sanders Partnership, the owners felt frustrated and uncertain about their finances. Communication with their previous accountant was inconsistent, and financial reporting lacked transparency.
They suspected there were issues with their VAT reporting and overall data accuracy, but without access to clear records they couldn’t prove it. This lack of visibility created a much bigger problem than administrative frustration. Without reliable figures, they couldn’t confidently make decisions about pricing, stock levels, marketing spend or cashflow.
In the fast-moving world of e-commerce, that kind of uncertainty can quickly lead to costly mistakes.
The Sanders Solution
Sanders Partnership began by rebuilding the client’s financial systems from the ground up to ensure the data could be trusted.
The business was migrated onto Xero, with LinkMyBooks implemented to connect the client’s online marketplaces and payment platforms directly into the accounting system. This integration automated the flow of sales data, summarising transactions into accurate accounting entries covering revenue, fees and VAT.
By removing manual spreadsheets and guesswork, the system ensured that sales data was consistently recorded and VAT treatment was accurate. With reliable records in place, the team could identify issues quickly, answer questions with evidence and maintain accurate books throughout the year.
Alongside the technical changes, the Sanders Partnership team created a more transparent and collaborative working relationship. The client now has full visibility of their financial information in Xero and regular review meetings to discuss performance and future plans.
“We finally have clear visibility of our numbers. Instead of guessing, we can make decisions based on facts — and that’s been a huge part of our growth.”
Client Background
The business operates from a warehouse in Wakefield, employing a growing team of five or more staff. Since implementing these changes, the company has doubled both turnover and headcount, while moving from minimal profit to a strong and sustainable financial position.
